Yesterday, September 7th, we left the New Frontier RV Park in Winnemucca, Nevada, and traveled to the property we purchased months ago, sight unseen in Lovelock, NV. Of course, since it was only a 54-mile trip, the truck had to throw a check engine light to keep everyone on their toes. Luckily the check engine light wasn’t really anything except the truck having a burp in the transmission. After clearing the code, we were on the way again smoothly until the generator in the RV decided to shut off and not want to restart. I wasn’t going to bother messing with it on the side of the road and with such a short distance to go, we marched on. We arrived at the Humboldt River Ranch Association in Lovelock, NV., around noon, although I don’t think this is technically Lovelock since the town is really 24-miles west. The ranch resort is also the homeowners association tied to the property we purchased, and it’s unique in its own way. One of the reasons this property interested us was its amenities, such as the RV hookups, cabins, campsites, and storage which all can be used at no cost. It’s peaceful here and quite quiet, with us being the only ones here at the current time.
This morning, September 8th, we unhooked the trailer from the truck and drove over to our property to see if we find some gold or silver lying around but nothing other than some weeds, cow plops, and rocks. We both really underestimated what an acre and a half is in visual size which is a little bigger than a football field. All I know is that I am glad that there is no grass to mow. We left our property and headed west to the Lovelock post office to become semi, unofficial residents of Nevada. We are currently using Rebecca’s brother’s address in Selinsgrove and will continue using it so we can keep our current PA driver licenses but once we get to California, we will be switching everything else over to our post office box and then have that mail forwarded to the campground. Sometime down the round we will get a Nevada driver’s license but we are in no hurry. As for the rest of day, we are just relaxing since it is about 95 degrees out. As for fixing the generator, that will come another day. It will start and run but for some reason, it wants to throw a fit and not work at all periodically. I believe it could be a fuel filter or maybe the carburetor needs a good cleaning but with us so close to our final destination, it will get an overhaul at that point. Right now we are trying to get used to this “do nothing” free time which is weird because we feel like we should be doing something. It’s nice to have fewer worries…
